I am not a regular Amtrak user. I've used it 3 times in the past 18 months or so. I've used it on the NYP-BFX route. Each time this train is at minimum 1 hour late. On one such trip we left in a snow storm and go tot Albany ahead of schedule- did the locomotive change (electric to diesel) leaving on time and arrived 1 hour late even though the skies were clear and the temperature was higher than in NY. I do think the train is a nice alternative to driving or taking the bus since the seating its much more comfortable, food is available and you can get up to walk around....but the lack of a regular schedule clouds over all these facts.
