We're traveling from Edinburgh to Brittany next month, and considering getting off the train at Calais on a Sunday evening, spending the night at some hotel close to the Frethun station, then picking up a car the next morning and heading west via Normandy (this instead of going into Paris, having to cross the city, then taking the train to Rennes - too late an arrival.)

But we've never gotten off at Calais/Frethun and have no idea what awaits. Does anyone have recommendations for hotels near the station? Are there ample taxis etc. for local trips to hotels, or by any chance do any of the nearby hotels have - gasp - shuttles? I know there are car hire offices at/near the station, so I assume there are some number of pax that actually arrive on foot, but we'd appreciate any insight. Because it will be a Sunday night, all the car agencies are closed when we arrive.
