Once upon a time (over a year ago), I stumbled upon an excellent website on the subject of bumping. Among other things, it had lists of flights and routes with a high bumping probability, and reports from people who were out attempting to get bumped. Now, try as I might, I can't find this website! All I can find is various useless articles that basically say that you can get compensated by voluntarily giving up your seat --> Talk about a statement of the obvious!

Steve B:

I'm booked to leave on a red-eye flight Tuesday before Thanksgiving. It's already booked to capacity, although it looks like the airline reserved some seats to be sold to desperate travellers for $1500 later on. Business travellers who have to be somewhere Wednesday morning should take care of those few remaining seats.
