I've already flown 45 segments this year, with an additional 20-30 planned, and I've never seen FAs close the door early. Only when they are full, but most pax are oblivious, and still open the bin to find space.

Maybe UA should do something like this, however, I don't want them sinking down to the level of Spirit. There are people who try and bring their rollerboard plus the kitchen sink. UA really needs to enforce this, especially at check-in.
