Have you had a look at this thread? Raffles mentions an Etihad fare of £1,675, which looks very attractive when you add together the 241 fees and HKG-SYD return cost. Plus if you have the assurance of a direct flight (with stopover) and not worrying about delays either inbound or outbound. Unless you fancy stopping off in HKG for a few days.
