Hmmm, I thought I saw a router that would work with a wi-fi signal, but not finding it now. So guess you would need a wired connection for that one to work, which wouldn't help the OP.

Virgin Mobile has a Broadband2Go prepaid broadband service that plugs into a USB port. Of course, that would leave out the iPad.
