Wow! This is incredibly useful. My dad, who is from Shanghai but doesn't know much about travel or any of the local tricks from the last 30 years , was foisting one of these tour packages ("Smartour" or something like that) on me because it seemed like such a great deal to him. After reading all of this I'm starting to think it would have been on the low-end of experiences.
