I own "Airplane" on DVD, and there is a documentary / director's commentary on the disc. The director noted that the film "Airplane" was only ever shown as the in-flight entertainment by one airline, which he recalled being a Mexican but didn't recall the specific name of the airline. Apparently the film was shown in english with spanish subtitles.

I always enjoy bringing along airplane-related DVDs to watch on my laptop while flying: passenger 57, air force one, executive decision, airplane, con air, etc.
