Think yourself lucky, over here in the UK even the nicest of cars are now ruined by the tedious clatter of the 4 cylinder diesel engine. One of the things I love about visiting the States is that all the cars have proper engines.
Diesel is a far better fuel option then Gasoline, so I stand by my statement. There are also more then just 4 cylinder Diesels, including some nice big MB ones that I'd take any day of the week.
