My LHR>AMS flight this week OLCI BP has a graphic saying "Baggage Drop At least 90 min* prior to departure". No indication what the * refers to but underneath the same text "...at least 180 minutes prior to departure for intercontinental flights and 150 minutes for European flights". Nice consistency there.

This is crazy timing and sounds like an excuse incase poor baggage handling affects the loading of your bags. Still if it's enforced then it just means more time in the lounge to consume the complimentary food and beverages. Their loss then!
