Grace Bay, Providenciales / Provo, Turks & Caicos Restaurants - Part 2

Coco Bistro :-::-:

Came here for a casual dinner one night. Most of our food was very good, although my cut of steak was extremely fatty. The service was very friendly, but in a scripted sort of way. The front-of-house was confusing, with no hostess or maître d' stand - you basically walk into what appears to be the server's prep area and ask to be helped. They have a 'no split checks' policy, unlike every other restaurant at which we ate. The restaurant is a short walk from the beach across Grace Bay road and has a nice, if a bit kitsch, ambiance, with Christmas lights on the palm trees, etc. There were a couple of large parties around us that thought it necessary to shout a lot.

Opus Restaurant (Ocean Club Resort) :-::-:

We came here for a nice, upscale dinner one night. The food was superb and the wine list was good, with a lot of the big (expensive) names. The service was poor, with no knowledge of the wines ("well, this one is very popular" ), and no checking back to refill drinks or see how our meal was (despite having plenty of time to hang out and joke around with the table next to us for). The restaurant is set far back from the beach and has a nice, air-conditioned indoor area with high ceilings and a bar, as well as an outside patio.

Grill Rouge / Anacoana (Grace Bay Club) :-:

This dinner was a total disaster. Our reservation for 15 was booked at the casual Grill Rouge, which was having a beach barbeque that night. However, upon arriving, we learned that the reservation agent had mistakenly booked us at the much-more-expensive (even by NYC standards) Anacoana. After a big kerfuffle, we were seated at Anacoana and given both menus. I ate off the Grill Rouge menu and the crab sandwich was dry, bland, and fell apart. The service was poor, with our single waitress excruciatingly slow and inaccurate, either overwhelmed or unhappy at having to serve our large group; a mandatory service charge of 18% was tacked onto our bills (beyond the normal, but not universal, 10%). After emailing the restaurants manager to complain, we did receive phone calls of apology as requested, although Mrs. dstan, who deserved one the most as the organizer, did not. The restaurant is just off the beach with a very South Beach vibe, including LED-backlit menus and a long bar. I think it's mentioned in another thread that there is a dress code, which yours truly clearly violated
