Why I don't use them in the US and increasingly here is the announcements "Moving walkway take care" and "You are approaching the end of the moving walkway please take care." which are triggered by a sensor at the start and end. Personal thing that just drives me nuts! The extra exercise by not using them is also a welcome bonus.
