Going to CA in the fall on a reward ticket, only routing we could get involves an overnight layover in LA. Just wondering about checked luggage. We arrive LAX on a Friday night on AC795 at 10:22 pm, and then depart Saturday morning on UA6290 at 8:15 a.m. Since we get a free checked bag on AC, but United charges for checked bags, would just as soon avoid those fees (and the hassle of collecting and re-checking the bags) by checking the bags all the way through from the start and bring overnight things in a carry-on. Will this be allowed, or will we have to collect our bags on Friday night and re-check them Saturday morning?
