I became BW diamond from a status match and have been staying at BWs in the eastern Sierra this summer. At the Mammoth lakes BW I have to beg for an upgrade but they finally gave in and I ended up with a suite. At the Lone Pine BW, the snotty young woman at the front desk said--no upgrades ever. I asked what diamond status got at this motel and she replied "diamond status means nothing here". They had pre-assigned me to a dungeon-like room with no front window (most rooms have views of the eastern Sierra and Mt Whitney) and the only window was in the bathroom facing the dumpsters. I immediately canceled my reservation and stayed elsewhere.
