i can't quite agree with you here....
lets say a particular property has 100 rooms but only 4 suites....all 4 of these suites are speciality suites & not select standard suites....the spg policy says plats get upgraded to select standard suites so if this property doesn't upgrade you, how can you blame spg for it????
there are many properties that have their own policies that are not controlled by spg....
another example is in india....if you get an upgrade at any property in india then you have to pay the tax portion of the rack room rate....if you don't want to pay it then just deny the upgrade....this has nothing to do with spg or the hotels as well....this has been imposed by the government....under these circumstances would you blame spg for a hotel in delhi charging you tax for an upgrade????
