You should know the peril of having 2 PNRs let alone 2 different airlines to piece together an itinerary. If you have to do so, you know what risk you take and must make room for this.

The hard fact is, BA program does not have such fee-based provision to accommodate your situation.

Also BA rules are very clear and totally viewable at booking - so really you are playing Russian Roulette and hoping if things do not go as planned, BA would bend the rules to help you out...
