I was on an AA flight a few weeks ago where the Captain was calling it a career. Real nice guy and everyone gave him a round of applause. Chatted with him a bit on whether he was going to get the water cannon salute. He told me that the destination airport used foam so no bird bath. I was pretty disappointed. As a side note, I did get to watch everything in the cockpit from rotation up to 10,000 feet. The cockpit door popped open and the FA in the jumpseat couldn't reach around to close it.
