It is too late to say this now, but why would you not take a late AA flight yesterday to connect to this outbound flight? You know full well the peril of misconnect, even on same PNR...
Good luck and hope CX could help you out. Though I doubt CX would be able to help you - the ticket is paid by BA miles, CX would send you back to BAEC to resolve this.
