Is there not a way to change the meal service in WT and WT+ so that the lights can be off within 20 minutes of wheels up on these 6 hour transatlantic flights? The meal doesn't have to be provided in a lounge, and it doesn't necessarily need to be a hot meal - perhaps some sandwiches, a drink, some chips, and some snacks left in the galley? Or a bagged meal that you can pick up at the jetbridge prior to boarding? Or a voucher for a meal on the ground? Or no bar service prior to meal service?
The same goes for landing - a brown bag with a muffin and a yoghurt can be distributed to 200 passengers in 15 minutes; do it 45 minutes before landing, instead of (sometimes) 2 hours.
I know a lot of people look forward to their hot meals, but what makes me happiest on those short overnight flights is getting more than 4 hours of sleep on a flight that's rarely over 6 hours....
Anyone else agree?
But not everyone want to sleep.. for example, I can't sleep in economy seat, so I prefer to have full meal on board...
