Pardon me for saying this, but isn't this a bit moot, as it is inconvenient to check in luggage no matter what, since the TSA is now actively rifling thru all the checked luggage before you can check it in anyway? That would encourage most ppl to pack as little as possible anyway, right?

FWIW I do agree the new fees do stink.
