There was a loud ovation. A few minutes later the Captain came downstairs and the entire cabin stood up to receive his way up and down the aisles. There was also a gathering of company officials and a few photographers waiting at the arrival gate. It was great to see.^
Anyone else have a similar experience?
I was waiting at the gate for my outbound flight in ATL once several years ago and there were photographers and the Captain's family waiting to greet the inbound aircraft, on which the Captain was flying his final/retirement segment. Like what you saw that your arrival gate, it was a lovely ceremony...a very nice "human touch" to what is normally an "inhuman" (read: often routine/impersonal) experience.
