Is there a prescribed belly patdown as well?

I got one the last time I was through BOS. Did not set off the WTMD, but the TSO officer just had me raise my arms while he patted my stomach and sides. Didn't go below the waist or above the sternum. Seemed sort of strange, guess I'm abnormally fat in the midsection.
