Bintermas - Binter Canarias, Canary Islands

Although it might only concern a small number of users i thought i'd write a small article about the insular airline Binter Canarias, their routings and their frequent flyer programme Bintermás.

BinterCanarias – a small overview

Binter Canarias was founded 1989 as a subsidiary of Iberia and operates mostly between the 7 canary islands, but also connects to Funchal on Madeira, Portugal and 2 destinations in Morroco.
The airline operates with 21 airplanes (3 ATR 72-201 and 18 ATR 72-500) and is located in Telde, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands.

For more info in the Airline check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binter_Canarias

Routings and ticket purchase

The airlines' main objective is to offer connections between the 7 Canary Islands with their 8 airports with almost all connections going through their main hub Las Palmas, Gran Canaria (LPA) or Tenerife North (TFN) or South (TFS). From LPA, TFN or TFS you can connect to La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, Lanzarote and Fuertventura and between Gran Canaria and Tenerife. The most important being Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and El Hierro in terms of connection time as the ferry boat takes from 4 to 8 hours.

The international destinations are only served through the main hubs:

Gran Canaria – El Aiun (Moroco) , 4 times a week
Gran Canaria/Tenerife North – Funchal (Madeira) , 4 times a week in total, twice from each.
Gran Canaria – Marrakech (Morroco) , twice a week

Tickets can be purchased through the airlines website: http://www.bintercanarias.com, through booking agents or several other websites like http://www.tubillete.com, http://www.edreams.es and others.
For residents of the Canary Islands there is a discount given on the prices. Also university students can profit from really low prices through http://www.tarifauniversitaria.com/ or directly through the website.

A frequent special offer is the 'Bintazo' which is promoted through their newsletter as well as through their Facebook and Twitter (http://twitter.com/BinterCanarias) pages. The prices recently started from 9€/flight.

Bintermás – the frequent flyer scheme

BinterCanarias does have their own frequent flyer programme called Bintermás.
Like in evey other programme the clients can accumulate points through flights, car rentals, hotel stays and other partners which will be listed in the following part.

After registration they will send you the green card with base status.

Airlines:

It is possible to accumulate points while flying, earning status points for the 2 levels Silver (Plata) and Gold (Oro).

Silver is earned by accumulating 2500 points through flying activiy on BinterCanarias within 12 months
Gold is earned by accumulating 8000 points through flying activiy on BinterCanarias within 12 months.

The status benefits are 10kg of extra baggage and priority baggage handling. Gold members also get an extra card for their spouse and all have exclusive reservation telephone numbers.

Table on using and earning points:

In my experience using the points works without any additional costs except for the telephone charges.
A goaround number for the high-cost 902 numbers can be found here: http://wiki.nomasnumeros900.com/Binter_Canarias

Points can also be earned and used on Iberia, check the table for details.

Binter Mas Credit Card:

1 point for every 3€ spent.

The usage of BinterCanarias as well as their frequent flyer programme is mainly targeted to residents of the Canary Islands both for using their services as well as accumulating within their programme through everyday activity (credit card, banking, DISA offer!!).

I hope my little article is helpfull to anyone, everything unclear may please be commented on.
Also comments on the quality and missing parts are really welcome as this is a first try.

Thanks.
