Regarding the clearness of the air, it is a common problem for many Chinese cities. The wind blows the moisture of the East and South China Sea into the China mainland while the strong cold air decend from Siberia causing large of amount of clouds stuck above east region of China. It is hard to take photos sometimes due to overcast skies.

The second issue is purely pollution, and that is the fact is getting hard to ignore.
