An AC SE can prebook the exit row seats at any time without an extra charge. An E or *G or any non status traveler would have to pony up some cash for the exit row seats if they want to prebook them. AC E can prebook other preferred seats such as bulkheads with extra charge.

You might get lucky and be able to snag an exit row without charge at the airport. Hope this helps.
