Thats because QF hasn't even published any D fares let alone I fare for that route. Cheapest is C3. VA has fares from $5200++ so they should be more than $1500 cheaper.

BTW flight times are not too different between VA and QF even with the DOM-INT transfer at SYD for QF! The actual long haul flight is much longer on VA due to the 777.

Oh, and for the saving of $1500 you will get a flat bed rather than something sloped.
