I disagree that was a blunder by WN. They had a route system in place that would have been completely discombobulated by the ongoing delay problems that B6 has encountered from day one.

It is only the fact that B6 started a discrete system from scratch that has enabled them to preserve a modicum of service. Even though the delays snowball through their system and cause most of their flights to be delayed, some badly, they finish up the day's work with all their aircraft in place having brought all of their passengers (eventually) to their destinations. Of course they need to present superior inflight service in order to maintain any repeat business and make the customers forget about the delays.

Personal note that I have taken four B6 flights to or from FLL and the two IADs were timely but both of the JFK flights were delayed by more than two hours as was one PBI-JFK. I think that using it for New York is dangerous if timely arrival is important. WN would not tolerate that kind of situation and it will be interesting to see what is going to happen to them as they dip their toes into LGA.
