I don't know the answers to your questions, but I do know that you have a lot of options besides connecting in LAX. From HNL, AA has nonstop service to SFO, DFW, and ORD, each of which is served by BA. And AA also offers connecting service from HNL to many other BA gateway cities in the U.S. and Canada.

By the way, are you planning to take advantage of the free, en route stopovers that are offered on BA award travel, or are you just planning to go straight through from HNL to LHR?
