Bose headset & Free Companion airfare

In the American Way magazine there is an advertisement from Bose with an offer for a free companion airfare if you call and order the Noise Cancelling Headset. And then in the very fine print on the bottom of the page it states that the airfare must be over either $349 or $379 depending upon the dates. It also states that the tickets must be purchased through API. Which makes this offer sound very similar to the offer made by Starwood recently. So my question is does anyone know any more details of this offer. When I called Bose I was told that the companion airfare rules would arrive with the headset, and that they didn't have any more details.

With the offer from Starwood (which also required that your tickets be purchased through API) you did not get to choose the airline you wanted to fly on - only the dates and cities.

I asked Bose if they had a phone number for API, and again I was told that it would arrive with the headset.

Thanks for any information that can be provided on this offer.
