Is the e-suymmary now a statement containing all your transactions as opposed to an email with a link to a website?
When I originally signed up for the service all I got was a link! Besides the extra work needed to see the statement and the need to be online, it did not allow for easily storing the transactions on the hard drive for future reference.

eSummary doesn't have a detailed listing. Only the monthly summary like you see on the AA.com home page.
The time lag is, IMO, because nobody at AA bothered to redo the code to allow for the summaries to be sent out shortly after the mileage monthly cycle closed. They just reuse the code that generated the paper statements.
Since I work in technology myself, I can tell you that this trend can be seen everywhere. Developers and managers love reusing code.
