Electronic items smaller than the standard sized laptop should not need to be removed from your bag or their cases. It’s that simple.
Sometimes I travel with my small netbook (10"), and when travelling in the US, if I forget to take it out of my bag I get a reprimand for not doing what I was supposed to do
