I think that you would have to be manually added to the UG list after your standby waitlist cleared. My guess is you were never officially on the UG list. During UDU, I've only used standby once and I was put in E+ even though there was 3 seats open in F during the flight.

Complete guess, but not too crazy to think the system isn't that quick to pick up on such situations.
