He didn't speak any English, but she kept talking louder and louder to him, in her very thick Southern accent mind you, which was even slightly difficult for me to understand without listening closely, and she became frustrated that her attempts at speaking louder weren't working. She asked the nearby passengers "can any y'all translate?" and someone did graciously, and as she moved on down the aisle, she thanked the "translator" by saying "Thanks, at least you speak American, too!"

It was a series of from me. I was ashamed for her...

I've seen the similar behavior of speaking louder to Asian passengers as well on some of my flights through NRT. DL just doesn't have the cultural/sensitivity training down, it seems, at least on those specific occasions.
