I've seen the similar behavior of speaking louder to Asian passengers as well on some of my flights through NRT. DL just doesn't have the cultural/sensitivity training down, it seems, at least on those specific occasions.
The only "American" you need to speak in FC is "Do You Know Who I Am"? The rest is blather.
