Orig I booked them a Monday night. But now since I have 2 free weekend stays I was thinking of having them come for Sat and Sun. But I'm worried that the weekend in August might be too busy. e.g. to go see Pearl Harbor etc. vs being there on a monday.

Anyon know if it makes a difference? I kinda feel the weekend is better to hangout but dont' want everything to be too jammed at the tourist sites.
I was just in Waikiki today (Sunday, July 11) - it was jammed packed, off the charts crowded - a year ago, when the economy was a lot worse, it was a lot quieter - tourism is definitely picking up.

But in answer to your question - June/July/August, and any holiday period and spring break is high season in Hawaii. Hotel occupancy peaks on Thur/Fri/Sat nights for 3 reasons - a lot of people from the mainland West Coast come for a quick weekend getaway - locals sometime stay a weekend as a "date" weekend when they find a deal, and lastly, weddings tend to occur over the weekend. Monday "might" be a little less crowded, but, it might not, again - it has been jammed packed in Waikiki this summer.
