1yr11mo "Infant" lap or seat?
Hi everyone, I'm new here- glad to find this forum.
My husband and I have to fly from Atlanta to Prague this October to visit his family. I have never traveled abroad before, and we are taking our daughter who will be just a few weeks shy of her 2nd birthday before our trip. I was planning on buying her a seat and using the car seat because 10+ hours is a long time to hold a kid on your lap. Then my sitter told me that she has traveled to Peru 4 times with a child under 2 and they always moved her to an open seat. She said once they even moved her to first class. I know the only GUARANTEE that we will have a seat is to buy one, but if its common to have an open seats available... It even says on the Delta website that it is a policy to place lap infants in a seat when one is available. Has anyone done this? It also sounded like I could bring my car seat "just in case", but I would have to gate check it if there we no available seats or if no one was willing to move. My sister put it this way..."yes, its a hassle to hold her, but is it $100 an hour hassle?" I really need the advice of people who have experience in these matters!
