We are going on a cruise in early august. I was going through the passports and realized my sons passport will expire 3 days before we leave. Ordinarily i know i could get it done quickly but being that he was 12 when he got it, he will need to get a new photo. Is the renewal process just like getting a new passport when a picture change is required? or is it significantly faster? trying to determine if i need to go the expedited route.

Also, can he travel with an expired passport?
