Thanks to all who replied. I was mistaken about the equipment type. It's an EMB-190. As to elite status, I've got Lifetime Silver thanks to MM status.

As to seating, it's not a big deal. I just found it unusual not to be able to select them ahead of time. I have no experience with European airlines or travel within Europe.
