Co-terminals & mileage Question

I'm trying to understand the significance of flying through 2 coterminals on the same trip. Does it affect the mileage earned? Specifically, SJC-SNA-LAX-SAN, where SNA and LAX are the coterminals. Will I get 1500 miles/3 segs, or 1000 miles/2 segs? Thanks.

CO-TERMINALS
-THE FOLLOWING GROUPS OF CITIES ARE CONSIDERED TO BE THE SAME POINT BUR - SNA - LAX - ONT - LGB, EWR - HPN - ISP - NYC, OAK - SFO - SJC, BWI - WAS, FLL - MIA, HRL - MFE.
