I never attach my cert to the boarding pass. I have it ready when asked, but don't see any reason to attach it. Of course doing OLCI and never checking a bag makes this relatively easy.
As for the free drinks a significant delay on a flight schedule usually leads to a free drink. To limit consumptions I often notice that they don't explicitly acknowledge that it is free, but when announcing drinks do not indicate a price for alcohol.
A 45 minute delay is marginal. The SD has no idea how many people were moved from the original flight and I wouldn't expect them to compensate based on a separate cancellation. If you feel compensation is warranted for the overall inconvenience of your total experience, that's something that customer relations would need to provide.
