RQ DRIVE has essentially the same effect. However, careful observation reveals the "drop charge" is often not entirely eliminated, but significantly reduced.
So for instance, let's say generic airport A is $45/weekend day for 3 days roundtrip. RQ DRIVE, if airport A participates at all times, including in the summer, cuts that to something like $40/weekend day. Now change the return location to distant generic airport B, and remove RQ DRIVE. The rack rate is something awful, say $107, $126, or $136/weekend day times 3 very expensive days. Now re-enter RQ DRIVE, and like magic, the new rate listed is $55/weekend day. It's not the same as what might have been available using the same rate code for roundtrip, but it's certainly much better than the original one-way price. And if you test closer airport C, RQ DRIVE gives something different and lower.
