While you were delayed for several hours due to previous flight cancelation, the flight in question's delay was only 45 minutes. Given the relatively short delay, I would not have expected free food/drink.
its in my past travels.... they offer 1 free BOB item.... due to delays....the flight delay was 2h35m (scheduled dep on AC771 19:15) final departure time on AC773 was 21:50..... with majority of AC773 pax from the previous flight, you'd think they would offer something.....

this is not the first time....last time our flight from YVR to YYZ was delayed to due late CNX pax/baggages from Asia.... we sat on the plane for about 2+ hours and nothing was offered too....... I understand its a hard situation on many people but am hoping there is some form of consistency in dealing with delay apologies on board.....

also ground staff did not announce the delay after 20:00 (inital delay was 19:45) nor offer to rebook pax to other flights....it was several pax that spoke to the pilot and seeing baggage being unloaded and then rumors got out that the flight is delayed or cancelled..... and people just swamped the counters......

guess my Q now is.... though the SD was doing the GA a favour.... collecting cert during boarding really isnt his job, especially when the cert T&C said "In-flight personnel will not accept upgrade certificates on board the aircraft" (of course i am bending the rules a little bit to suit my cause)...... to be fair i didnt/nor cause a ruckus because i was prepared to burn the cert anyways but the reaction from the GA was..."give the guy a break" .....

however.... a less understanding, P-O'ed or confrontational passenger may question the SD's intent of collecting certs if its not part of their job....

perhaps AC staff can provide some insight? are SDs allowed to "help" GAs collect certs?
