I completely agree with you. I'm tired of hearing the airlines blame amenity-slashing and service cutbacks on customer desires. I didn't set the price, so don't blame me when I take the offer. And it's true the airlines have taught customers to perceive as outrageous any fare that actually covers the cost of transporting them. But I do think customers should also be aware that $221 is an insanely low charge for a transcon trip, in relative and absolute terms.
