If you book a *A RTW ticket, you can pay to upgrade to premium economy on the sectors that have it, on both NZ (US$350/sector) and SK (US$500/sector). RTW tickets are pretty poor value these days but the $350 "upgrade" to PE is great value IMHO. More info here (section 12):

Incidentally, it's outrageous the way that individual carriers are trying to price gouge on the (already expensive) RTW tickets. I know SQ have been guioty of this for a while, with surcharges as high as $900 for their new business class product on the A380/77W/A345, but now even Air Canada is in on the game with a $300 surcharge for business class on their 777s. This is not to upgrade, it's for a RTW ticket in which you have already paid for business class. In AC's case, their product is like an inferior version of NZ's business premier, so the charge is pretty cheeky. I really think *A needs to enforce some more user-friendly rules to maintain some value in these products for the consumers.
