I may be the weird exception here, but I was able to use an ecert (using phone web-support) on the following:

We PM CLE - LAX on CO metal (UA codeshare)
Thu AM LAX - KOA on UA metal
Su PM KOA - ORD on UA metal
Mo AM ORD - CLE on CO metal (UA codeshare)

Not sure if they didn't care or notice but I didn't ask! They applied my ecert and everything was fine.
