Yeah, PHL-ANC is a very strangely operated flight. It's pretty much treated as an int'l flight, even leaving from Terminal A in PHL. Coach pax get pillows and blankets, an int'l-style dinner on the outbound and a breakfast service on the returning redeye.

Movies are shown, although there seem to be serious problems with the sound system on US's aging 757s. On both my flights, static kept interrupting the movies for long periods of time.

That said, I don't know anyone who offers better domestic service to ANC. I sat in 6DF with my wife (the best I could do as a CO plat), and these are fantastic seats for a couple, given the 2-seat exit row configuration and the several feet of legroom.

I'm a bit surprised they're not telling anyone about the free meals or video. The official info shows it only as food-for-sale -- and they do sell food in coach if you happen to want it in addition to the free food. I felt a little stupid bringing my own sandwich on board for the 8 hour flight, but I remembered foodless ORD-Hawaii flights on UA, so it seemed prudent to pack a picnic.
