Don't Take Scissors Through Changi!
My wife carried stubby little scissors with blunt tips like those carried by the OP through airports all over the world without a problems -- except at Changi.

On two separate trips, the Singapore screeners said we could not pass with the scissors. The last time was January 2010, and the screeners had a bucket full of little scissors given up by other travelers.
