Scissors? a security risk?

... that's nothing.

Mrs FD was returning from Bordeaux the other week. She had visited a little tea shop there and bought a few tea strainers

(which look like the one on here in case you're wondering http://www.whittard.co.uk/store/cata...asures-SC6006/)

Don't ask why but she bought 4 of them, only to be told that a maximum of 2 were permissible in hand luggage for security reasons so she had to leave 2 behind with our friends.

Maybe someone on here can enlighten me as to how a pair of tea strainers poses no threat to flight security, but four does?!
