Was your post meant to be tongue-in-cheek? "My best California Hyatt experiences have been at Hyatt Places"
On the Century City gym, it's unacceptable to me because it's not 24 hours. I'm a business traveler, and I work during the day. Long days.
And yes, I prefer Hyatt Places. I've no real interest in lounges and concierges; room service and such are beyond my budget (no expense account). I prefer to be left alone. At an HP, I can check in and out at the kiosk and never have any human interaction. Parking and internet access are free (and hassle-free). Parking lot to room is seconds, not minutes. I have no interest in upgraded rooms and suites; again, I'm only there to sleep and - when possible - catch a workout.
So it's Hyatt Place, Hampton Inn, Four Points...for about 260 of my 365 days a year.
