I don't see any irony, as I assumed the OP wanted to resolve the situation nicely (rather than, say, file a civil suit) and figured we'd be the group with experience in such matters.

I've discovered cases where a hotel that I did stay at charged an extra night to a different card. I'd never have noticed it except that I was looking for the total spend at a few different Hilton properties, went on line to two credit cards I might have used, and did a search for "Hilton" in the past year and saw the duplicate charges.
