I'm really surprised this worked. In my experience with AA, they will not sell e-tickets by credit card to anyone but the person named on the credit card. Instead, they will only sell you paper tickets, and they insist on mailing them to the credit card address.

I'd check with AMEX to see if someone changed the address on your account.
